McFarlane Toys What’s Up?
Posted by DannyAug 1
I remember a time when McFarlane Toys used to bring out a very cool and awesome toy line every month. It started with the figures based on the Spawn comics but soon other sources also generated cool toys like movies, musicĀ and best of all the various horror series inspired by the likes of Giger and Clive Barker for example.
But the last couple of years McFarlane toys seems to be releasing crap after crap with figures based on stupid movies like HALO with each figures looking exactly the same exact for the color scheme of the space suits, generic military figures and sports figures no one outside the US cares about.
What happened to the creativity that lead to fantastic series like the Tortured Souls or the cool re-imagining of classic Fairy Tales or the Dragon series?
I wonder if the current line of crap figures actually sell more than the cool stuff it used to bring out.
Ah, the good old days of looking forward to the next McFarlane toys. Guess I should be glad I don’t have to spend money on toys anymore.

I guess there’s more of a demand for figures based on established franchises. That’s too damn bad. I remember the fantastic stuff that the company used to put out: Alien Spawn, Raven Spawn, ect………..
But in all fairness to the company, they’ve gotta focus on things that sell.
No point in working solely from passion and going bankrupt.
Some would call it selling out. I’d call it cashing in.

I had the impression that the creative toy lines (e.g. tortured souls, twisted fairy tales, spawn etc) sold well.
But then again, those were probably only available in comic shops whereas Halo’s available everywhere.
Shame indeed, at least we got some pretty cool stuff in the past which is better then nothing I guess.
