The idea is quite simple: send a sketchbook around the globe so that different (high profile) artists can make a sketch in it. You often see this at comic conventions as well where fans bring their sketch books and ask artists to put a sketch in it.
The name list is quite impressive with the likes of Glen Keane, Bill Plympton, Hayao Miyazaki and 67 more artists.
Amazon FR has a copy of the book listed. I hope it’ll also be available on other Amazon sites as well. Below is a short cartoon explaining the concept.
On top of that she starred in a couple of cool TV shows and movies, like Alias and G.I. Joe. Her upcoming movie Conan the Barbarian also promises a cool entry in geek related flicks.
And don’t forget she’s also hot, something the people at Maxim also realize. Below is some behind the scenes footage of Rachel Nichols Maxim shoot.
Redheads are hot. Various cartoon makers have already understood then, and one of the ultimate redheaded toon babes has to be Jessica Rabbit.
Yes, she’s only a cartoon character. But a very well designed on that is.
Sideshow Collectibles, well known for their awesome collectible statues, will release a Premium Format statue of Jessica Rabbit later this year. The photos released so far simply look stunning.
With current technology toy makers can make some amazing looking action figures, especially in the sculpture and mold department. But even with current high quality action figures sometimes a figure manages to stand out in terms of appearance.
The newest Superman toy based on the first Superman movie starring Christopher Reeve is just simply amazing. The face looks exactly like Reeves and everything about this figure just looks great. Expected release date Q4 2011.
I like companies and people who deviate from the standard and do things differently than others.
The newest trailer for the upcoming Conan movie scheduled to come out later this month does just that. Instead of focusing on the standard crap, it focuses on the things that matter: blood & boobs
And did I mention Rachel Nichols stars in this movies and she’s friggin’ hot?
Conan the barbarian has had many incarnations, some good some not so good. One of the better interpretations of Robert E. Howard’s famous character was a animated series from the early 90s made by Sunbow, the same studio who also made the classic Transformers cartoon.
Season one has been available on DVD for a few years now in the UK. On November 22nd Shout! Factory will release the first half of the second season on DVD. Lets hope the entire run will eventually be released, hopefully in a nice box set!
The Transformers have had various incarnations including several animated series after the original series from the 80s ended. Most of these spin offs suck, but Beast Wars is one of the few that is actually good.
I’m still not a big fan of the CG animation in Beast Wars, but in terms of Transformers designs and story it’s good.
Coming November 1st a complete box will be released via general retailers. Earlier it was only available via Shout! Factory’s site.
Superman will return to the big screen again with a new actor Henry Cavill putting on the legendary S and cape this time. The first official photo of Cavill in his Superman outfit has been revealed, and it looks ok to me.
Though Superman is one of the more boring superheroes – seriously, Lex Luthor as his arch nemesis? – the new movie promises a nice set up with General Zod returning. So, I expect lots of action in the new movie.
