The Green Lantern Movie wasn’t a big hit last weekend in the US according to Box Office Mojo, but an animated cartoon series featuring this DC superhero is still planned to happen.
The first trailer for this CG animated series has been released and it looks more like a computer game than an animated series IMO.
But seeing that the same creative crew as for the other DC animated series are behind it, I still have good hope it’ll be watchable.
I really like The Office and in the US version Rainn Wilson plays a very funny role as Dwight Schrute, the ass kissing annoying co-worker.
Rainn Wilson has also co-written a funny and creative book called SoulPancake.
So, a comedy starring Rainn Wilson automatically has my interest. For his newest movie, Super, the intro is fully animated and looks pretty cool as can be seen from the clip below.
TVGuide reports that Cartoon Network will debut a Green Lantern Animated Series next year.
With Bruce Timm leading the new animated series it’s almost a guarantee for success even though Green Lantern for me has never been a popular character.
But then again very few characters in the DC universe are favourites of mine because I was more of a Marvel guy. However starting with Batman TAS Bruce Timm and Paul Dini did an amazing job bringing the DC characters to live in all the various toon incarnations. And even though I’m not a big DC fan, the various animated series and movies have made me a fan of the animated DC Universe.
So, in this case the specs are in favour of this new Green Lantern TAS also being a success. Can’t wait!
Here’s a fine example of some excellent marketing for a product, in this case a Nokia mobile phone, because it was used to shoot the world’s smallest stop motion clip.
So small in fact that it made the Guiness Book of Records. The animation clip is made by famed stop-motion studio Aardman and the main character of the movie is only 9mm tall!
What better way to market you product by showing in a creative way what cool things it can do.
The newest entry in the DC Universe animated features stars Batman again. So far the Batman features have been the better ones and Batman Under the Red Hood is no exception. Under the Red Hood focuses on the 2nd Robin in Batman’s history, namely Jason Todd.
Madhouse has created four anime series based on Marvel characters specifically for the Asian market. Next year two of those series, Iron and Wolverine, will also be shown in the US market.
Below is the trailer for the Wolverine series and I must say the animation looks very cool. But what else can be expected from Madhouse.
Will definitely be taking a look once the serie has been translated.
The first trailer is online at Yahoo for the live action Yogi Bear movie starring Dan Aykroyd as Yogi’s voice.
The trailer seems to go fully for the Yogi recognition, because other than the Yogi Bear name and familiarity there’s nothing else appealing that could spark interest from this first trailer, like a plot or something like that.
Perhaps they’ll reveal plot details in a later trailer, otherwise it seems very meager.
