Shout! Factory had already released a complete G.I. Joe box set in 2009 as a limited locker box.
Coming May 1st Shout! will re-release the complete series as a regular box for ‘unlimited’ unavailability. It’s not known if this new box will contain the same extras as the locker box.
80s toon classic Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors was released on DVD in 2008 in a box set containing the first 33 episodes of the classic series, courtesy of Shout! Factory.
It sadly remained at those 33 episodes and a 2nd volume with the last episodes was never released.
On February 21st Mill Creek will be re-releasing Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors with 2 releases. The first one is a box that will contain (again) the first 32 episodes, the second release is a “Best of” with 10 episodes. The price is more than reasonable: $ 12,98 for the box set and $ 9,98. This sadly also reflects in the packaging, by re-using the horrible artwork that’s been used on previous releases.
No word when and if the remaining episodes will also be released on DVD.
After the first season and first half of season 2, the final part of season 2 has now also been announced for the 90s animated series of Conan the Barbarian.
Conan the Adventurer is a very good interpretation of the famous barbarian, so I’m looking forward to finally see season 2 being released on DVD.
In the 90s there was an animated series called Skeleton Warriors. As the name says it featured skeletons dressed up as warriors and battling each other.
How could I not like that? Aside from my fondness for skulls it also was a watchable animated show. Perhaps not as popular as other animated series, but still good.
Coming December the entire series will be released by Gary Goddard Entertainment. The 2-disc set will contain all 13 episodes as well as extras.
Conan the barbarian has had many incarnations, some good some not so good. One of the better interpretations of Robert E. Howard’s famous character was a animated series from the early 90s made by Sunbow, the same studio who also made the classic Transformers cartoon.
Season one has been available on DVD for a few years now in the UK. On November 22nd Shout! Factory will release the first half of the second season on DVD. Lets hope the entire run will eventually be released, hopefully in a nice box set!
Nineties classic MTV cartoon Beavis and Butthead will return to MTV this year and the first footage has been released.
Beavis and Butthead used to rule the airwave in the 90s as two dumbs metal heads with authority problems. But the biggest draw was their often funny and harsh commentary on a wide range of videoclips.
In the new show apparently Beavis and Butthead will continue providing commentary, this time (also?) on TV shows. Not sure if videoclips commentaries will also be included.
The animation looks very cleaned up in comparison to the original series, which shouldn’t be a surprise with current technology.
Coming weekend the biggest Comic Com will take place in San Diego, the SDCC. Lots of interesting stuff will debut at this con as well as SDCC exclusives/limited editions.
One of the limited editions is the complete 2nd season of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe from Mill Creek Entertainment which will have a different cover than the regular edition which will be released two months later than this SDCC exclusive.
I’m very happy with my BCI sets, so despite the attractive cover I’ll skip this one.
More footage for the new Thundercats cartoon series has leaked to the Internet.
In an almost 10 minute videoclip the new Thundercats are introduced.
The animation looks great again. The story seems to be taking a different route than the original series, but not less interesting.
Lion-O and Tygra are brothers and more insight is given to the Thundercats’ life on their home planet. The new series goes live on Cartoon Network later this month.
The Green Lantern Movie wasn’t a big hit last weekend in the US according to Box Office Mojo, but an animated cartoon series featuring this DC superhero is still planned to happen.
The first trailer for this CG animated series has been released and it looks more like a computer game than an animated series IMO.
But seeing that the same creative crew as for the other DC animated series are behind it, I still have good hope it’ll be watchable.
The new series will pick up right after the ending of events in the original lion force Voltron series from the 80s.
Nicktoons has a streaming clip of the trailer but those idiots have disabled it for viewers outside of the US, bunch of fucking idiots. I hate these kinds of fucking entertainment companies who prevent consumers from viewing their stuff, especially consumers who actually want to buy from them. Well, fuck you Nicktoons!
Thanks to the blessings of the Internet, the trailer is also available on Youtube:
After seeing the trailer I’m a bit shocked in regards to the animation, it looks very amateurish. Nevertheless, the good news is that a new Voltron cartoon is coming soon.
