Devil Girl vs Angel Cartoon

Found this very intriguiing videoclip via Animatieblog about two cartoon girls: one good, one bad.

I love the style of the characters. The song is also nice, and the clip all over is just very cool and worth sharing ;)

Dan Ariely and Donald Sutherland are two psychologist who’ve each written famous books about irrationality and how we humans are anything but rational beings.

Once you know the psychological games being played behind the scenes, you start to understand some of the irrational behaviour humans display.

With that in mind, there’s still no person on the planet who can explain to me why anyone would want to make a live action version of Nickelodeon’s The Fairly Oddparents. Especially not after seeing the horrendous trailer below.

EPIC fail!

Batman Year One First Look

The next direct-to-DVD animated feature in the DC Universe is for another Batman flick, this time based on the classic Frank Miller comic story.

The first trailer has been released and animationwise it looks very promising – as can be expected from the DC Universe animated movies.

Challenge of the GoBots I’ve always considered to be a Transformers rip-off, a bad rip-off that is.

The designs of the GoBots are just so cheap and ridiculous. The series itself it just too childish, which isn’t that weird considering it’s made by family friendly toon studio Hanna Barbera. The human characters are so annoying I wished each episode Cykill would actually kill them.

But at some point Challenge of the GoBots becomes so bad, it somehow becomes intruiging.

Last month WB released a few Challenge of the GoBots episodes on DVD via their Manufacture-on-Demand program. Even though I think Challenge of the GoBots sucks, as an animation fan I’m somehow still compelled to get myself a copy to see just how bad it is.

Based on a poster, French site Catsuka and Dutch Animatieblog are reporting that a new series of the classic 80s cartoon Mysterious Cities of Gold is in the making.

I really liked the original series and even have it on DVD, so I’m curious to see if the new series will be in the same style and quality. Guess we’ll have to wait till 2012, then it’s expected to be released in France.

MASK coming to DVD in the US

Eigthies cartoon classic M.A.S.K. was already released on DVD in the UK, but the US is now also getting an official release.

Unlike the UK version the US complete box will NOT include the ‘racing series’, which is a good thing probably because the racing series is just a piece of garbage.

Extras are yet to be announced, but rumours say a featurette about the voice cast is to be included as well as a decal sticker.

Dailyblam has the first footage from the new Green Lantern animated TV series debuting this fall.

The Green Lantern animated series will be fully CGI and a first for a DC animated series.

Even though Green Lantern is not one of my favourite characters and I dislike CGI animation, the DC animated universe has built up a very good reputation so I’m willing to give it a shot.

New Thundercats Images

The first images for the new Thundercats cartoon series have been released at the London Toy fair and of course found its way on the web. Below image is via iO9.

The original Thundercats were already very well animated and anime like and judging from this first image it now looks even more anime style.

Lion-O looks a bit too much like an adolescent and not convincing as a leader. But I’ll have to see the final results to really see if the new series can measure up against the original version.

Captain Planet Coming To DVD

Eco friendly superhero Captain Planet is (finally) coming to DVD according to TVShowsOnDVD mid april this year

I actually liked the cartoon because I saw it a another superhero fighting off bad guys.

But the real ‘gimmick’ of course was that Captain Planet along with his juvenile gang of sidekicks called the Planeteers was the first eco friendly superhero in the sense that Captain Planet didn’t fight off traditional villains, but villains who polluted the environment.

And he of course has the coolest haircut with his never-out-of-fashion mullet ;)

Green Lantern TAS

TVGuide reports that Cartoon Network will debut a Green Lantern Animated Series next year.

With Bruce Timm leading the new animated series it’s almost a guarantee for success even though Green Lantern for me has never been a popular character.

But then again very few characters in the DC universe are favourites of mine because I was more of a Marvel guy. However starting with Batman TAS Bruce Timm and Paul Dini did an amazing job bringing the DC characters to live in all the various toon incarnations. And even though I’m not a big DC fan, the various animated series and movies have made me a fan of the animated DC Universe.

So, in this case the specs are in favour of this new Green Lantern TAS also being a success. Can’t wait!
