Warner Bros fortunately keeps releasing direct-to-DVD animated features of the DC Universe. One of the newest entries is a new feature about the Justice League: Justice League Doom.
The first trailer has been released and can be seen below. Can’t wait to see the final result!
Last weekend was the San Diego Comic Con which traditionally means lots of news regarding comics and animation.
Some of the good news was that 3 DC Universe animated features are in the works for 2012 namely Batman: The Dark Knight Returns based on Frank Miller’s classic work, Superman vs the Elite and the Justice League: Doom.
I’m especially looking forward to the Batman feature, because the Batman animated features have proven to be the best entries in the DC Universe movies. The others sound at least intriguing so I’m also curious for those.
Also, a preview was shown for the new Green Lantern Animated Series. The style seems very similar to the Superman and Justice League animated series, but sadly rendered in CGI. Nevertheless, any DC animated series deserve a fair chance since they have a solid track record.
The Green Lantern Movie wasn’t a big hit last weekend in the US according to Box Office Mojo, but an animated cartoon series featuring this DC superhero is still planned to happen.
The first trailer for this CG animated series has been released and it looks more like a computer game than an animated series IMO.
But seeing that the same creative crew as for the other DC animated series are behind it, I still have good hope it’ll be watchable.
SuperHeroHype has a few images and a clip from the new direct-to-DVD Green Lantern animated feature and based on this short clip the animation looks really good.
The first Green Lantern animated movie sucked, but Emerald Knights looks promising again.
Dailyblam has the first footage from the new Green Lantern animated TV series debuting this fall.
The Green Lantern animated series will be fully CGI and a first for a DC animated series.
Even though Green Lantern is not one of my favourite characters and I dislike CGI animation, the DC animated universe has built up a very good reputation so I’m willing to give it a shot.
The DC animated universe is still pumping out new features, which is a good thing. And especially Batman is going to be busy.
Earlier it was announced that the Dark Knight would get the animated treatment. And now another Batman story arc, namely Batman: Year One, will also be made into an animated feature.
Later this week a new DC Universe animated series will debut on Cartoon Network, namely Young Justice for which a new trailer is available.
The animation (of course?) looks very impressive and even though it stars the younger versions of well known DC heroes, the style or trailer doesn’t look childish. Can’t wait to see the final result!
The Superman/Batman: Apocalypse feature was mediocre but the packaging looks nice. I got the 2-disc Special Edition Amazon exclusive which also had a mini litho.
