A post on Discotek Media’s Facebook page hints at a DVD release for the awesome Samurai Pizza Cats. Even better news is that chances are it’ll be a complete series set! Let’s hope this is true.

Justice League: Doom

On February 28th WB will release another direct-to-DVD for the Justice League named Justice League: Doom, which is based on the comic JLA: Tower of Babel by Mark Waid.

I’m not familiar with mentioned story arc. Based on the trailers released so far I still don’t have much of a clue what the plot is exactly about other than that the Justice League will be fighting some bad guys again – which is basically the plot of any superhero movie.

So, in that regard the trailers aren’t convincing. But fortunately the DC Universe animated features have at least top notch animation which alone makes it worth watching. So, this is another must-see for me.

80s toon classic Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors was released on DVD in 2008 in a box set containing the first 33 episodes of the classic series, courtesy of Shout! Factory.

It sadly remained at those 33 episodes and a 2nd volume with the last episodes was never released.

On February 21st Mill Creek will be re-releasing Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors with 2 releases. The first one is a box that will contain (again) the first 32 episodes, the second release is a “Best of” with 10 episodes. The price is more than reasonable: $ 12,98 for the box set and $ 9,98. This sadly also reflects in the packaging, by re-using the horrible artwork that’s been used on previous releases.

No word when and if the remaining episodes will also be released on DVD.

After the first season and first half of season 2, the final part of season 2 has now also been announced for the 90s animated series of Conan the Barbarian.

Conan the Adventurer is a very good interpretation of the famous barbarian, so I’m looking forward to finally see season 2 being released on DVD.

The 2011 Conan the Barbarian movie may have been mediocre and on the biggest flops at the cinemas, but the Limited Edition Blu-Ray box is a winner.

Let me first of all say that I actually liked the movie. It definitely wasn’t a masterpiece, and the Schwargenegger movie from the 80s had more heart, but the 2011 version offered some good brainless entertainment. Add in Rachel Nichols looking hot as ever, and I’m happy.

But what really persuaded me to actually buy the movie on DVD was the limited edition. Dutch Filmworks released a very cool LE edition box in the Netherlands.

Celebrity Deathmatch

How cool would it be if celebrities would fight each other to the death? Totally cool!

Even though it hasn’t happened in real life (except perhaps for rapper feuds with deadly endings), MTV’s Celebrity Deathmatch comes closest to telecasted celebrity fights.

Yesterday MTV released a ‘best of’ 3-disc DVD set, though a complete set would’ve been cooler. But better something than nothing I guess.

Fight on!

Justice League Doom

Warner Bros fortunately keeps releasing direct-to-DVD animated features of the DC Universe. One of the newest entries is a new feature about the Justice League: Justice League Doom.

The first trailer has been released and can be seen below. Can’t wait to see the final result!

Skeleton Warriors on DVD

In the 90s there was an animated series called Skeleton Warriors. As the name says it featured skeletons dressed up as warriors and battling each other.

How could I not like that? Aside from my fondness for skulls it also was a watchable animated show. Perhaps not as popular as other animated series, but still good.

Coming December the entire series will be released by Gary Goddard Entertainment. The 2-disc set will contain all 13 episodes as well as extras.

Pepe Le Pew Complete On DVD

Legendary skunk-in-love Pepe Le Pew will be getting a solo release on DVD collecting all his classic Looney Tunes shorts. There can never be enough Looney Tunes DVDs!

The DVD will be released December 27th according to TVShowsOnDVD. Too late for Christmas, but way ahead of Valentine’s Day.

Conan The Adventurer On DVD

Conan the barbarian has had many incarnations, some good some not so good. One of the better interpretations of Robert E. Howard’s famous character was a animated series from the early 90s made by Sunbow, the same studio who also made the classic Transformers cartoon.

Season one has been available on DVD for a few years now in the UK. On November  22nd Shout! Factory will release the first half of the second season on DVD. Lets hope the entire run will eventually be released, hopefully in a nice box set!
