I have to admit, I`m a bit of a geek (otherwise why would I as a grown man still be buying action figures). And because I`m a bit geeky I used to read comic books. I don`t read them anymore (unless I see something really good), but I still appreciate good comic art. And when I see a great illustrator at work, I can`t help but buying his (or her) work. And when it comes to masterful comic art, the name Jim Lee automatically comes to mind.
<start rant> Today I got that lovely letter again in my mailbox, namely that those fucking assholes from customs have intercepted another one of my packages and are holding it hostage until I pay ransom. The worst part isn`t that I have to pay the customs fee (though I don`t like that either) but the fact that I have to wait longer for my DVDs to arrive. I`m telling ya, the fucking government is the worst mafia of them all. Fuck those fucking assholes and cunt whores from customs! Fuck you! </end rant>
Bandai recently released the anime My Hime in the US, but of course serie has already been broadcasted and released on DVD in Japan. In Japan there have also been a couple of artbooks for this anime serie.
I haven`t seen the anime yet, so I have no idea what the story`s about, or wether or not it`s a cool anime. BUt I did see one of the art books and thought it was cool, so in an impulse, I bought it.
The coolest thingy I got at last weeks Collectors expo was with no doubt this bust of the Ubervamp from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Even though every season of Buffy after the first 3 season sucked (varying from crap to major crap), and season 7 was no exception, the Ubervamp is one of the coolest villains from the Buffy rogues gallery appearing in the final season.
For those who missed Therapy?`s gig in Paradiso last week, at Fabchannel the whole concert can be seen. And don`t forget to vote for Fabchannel for the Webbyawards!
Without a doubt the coolest figure from the first Tortured Souls series is of course the Talisac fig. When you look at it in it`s package you may not think it`s that cool. But once it`s assembled you realize just how cool and sick this figure just is :) At last weekend`s collectors expo, I caved and also bought the 12"version.
This weekend the biggest collector`s expo was in Utrecht, and of course I couldn`t miss it. Because I`m in the middle of moving out to another appartment, and thus need to buy some necessary "serious stuff", I was a bit short on my bugdet for the real important stuff like merchandise.
But neverthelees I did manage to score some really cool stuff. Some old stuff that I got for a bargain price and some new things. One of the older stuff, but still extremely cool, are the 12" versions of Clive Barker`s Tortured Souls line. The first one is that lovely lady Lucidique...
We all know McFarlne makes one of the coolest toys available. So what do you get when McFarlane will be making toys based on Hanna Barbera toons? Well, cool action figures of course!
At McFarlane Toys the first pictures have been published displaying the characters for the first series. At the moment the Tom & Jerry ones are the coolest looking.
Even though my book pile of unread titles is rather large at the moment I just couldn`t resist buying Hakua Ugetsu`s (first?) art book. Hakua Ugetsu is known for his art for the anime Burst Angel, and his art was the main reason I gave Burst Angel a chance. When I heard that an art book was released containg Hakua Ugetsu`s art I immediately ordered it. And earlier this week it arrived.
