After seeing Hakua Ugetsu`s art, I watched the anime serie Burst Angel. After a few episodes I must admit that the serie is a bit disappointing. But fortunately Ugetsu`s art isn`t. So when I saw this cute little action figure of Meg on eBay, I just had to place a bid.
In a funny poll at CNN they wondered what the worst bosses were...on TV. And guess what, two are animeted bosses namely mr. Burns from the Simpsons and Cosmo Spacely from the Jetsons. Now where did they get the idea that these two fine CEO`s are bad bosses ;)
The first first pictures of Bumblebee of the Transformers Movie in full robot mode have been found on the net here. I hope it`s just hoax, because it looks like crap to me. Too much stuff, and complicated design. They should have just stylized and kept it simple IMO.
TV hit serie Lost will be getting another merchandise boost, this time by fan favorite Spawn Toys. After a teaser pic of Charlie a few weeks ago, pictures are posted at Spawn.com now for all the figures in the first series.
For such inexpensive toys, the likenesses are astounding IMO. And they don`t seem like toys anymore, but small statues like most of the Spawn figures. Just a few months more before these babies get released in November 2006.
At the Variety site there`s an article briefly discussing the big number of CGI features that have or will hit the big screen this year, with varying BO results.
Two years ago, a CGI feature was equal to guaranteed BO success, but seeing that at least 3 CGI movies have already flopped ths year, it seems quality is still what makes a movie a financial success.
Hopefully the studios will stop kranking out those horrible CGI`s and make some good traditionally animated movies again.
Last week there was an article in The Japan Times about a new Gundam kit that Bandai will be releasing on the (Japanese) market in December 2006.
What`s so special about that, Bandai releases numerous Gundam kits, you think? Well the difference is, this Gundam kit will be 1,5 meters high when assembled!
And yes, you`ll probably have to assemble the thing like the regular 1/144 or 1/100 scale Gundam kits. How the hell are they going to hide that thing under the Christmas tree ;)
When Mattel wanted to sell He-man to little girls, they made up She-ra, He-man`s twin sister. And of course She-ra also needed the support of a animated series to brainwash little to girls into buying the action figures (or were they dolls now that they were aimed at girls?)
Now that the He-man series is been released entirely on DVD it`s time for She-ra to make her appearance on DVD. Just like with He-man, BCI has first released a "Best of" DVD before bringing out the big guns as boxsets.
Another box that was in my dreadful package from July that got snagged by those assholes from customs, was the first volume of the second season of He-man & The Masters of the Universe.
In one of my DVD packages of July (the one those motherfuckers from customs intercepted - hope they all rot in hell) was the second season of the Justice League. In general I`m very critical of cartoons from the 90`s and beyond. But JL is one of those rare gems in TV cartoonland that like as much as the best classics from the 80s. I`m even willing to go so far to say that JL is probably the best toon (or at least one of the two best toons - Spongebob being the other, and yes I`m not afraid to admit that I like Spongebob) of the current decade.
