30 November 06 - 19:07Final JLU and BB DVDs announced
TVShowsOnDVD has posted the release info for the final set of the Justice League Unlimited DVDs and Batman Beyond. Both will be released next year on March 20th, and it will be the final 13 episodes for both series. So after 20 March 2007 no more JLU or BB DVDs unfortunately :( (unless the producers are going make a direct-to-video feature)
Recently I got the Absolute Kindome Come by Alex Ross and Mark Waid. I`m quite fond of Ross` art, so I decided to also get The World Greatest Superheroes which also collects some of Ross` finest work.
Even though I really disliked the ending of the anime classic Neon Genesis Evangelion, I really like Sadamoto`s art for the serie. In 2001 Der Mond: The Art of Yoshiyuki Sadamoto was released containg Sadamoto`s art for Evangelion and some of his earlier work. Unfortunately the book went OOP before I had a chance to pick up a copy.
But last month Viz finally rereleased the book, this time even with a Hardcover, and I didn`t hesitate a minute once I saw it in a store.
Every animation fan knows that before there was Mickey Mouse, there was Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. Unfortunately the big masses don`t know this since Oswald is nothing but a note in animation history. But this might change soon, because Oswald is ctually going to be released on DVD. Check it out at Disney Legacy.
It was known for a while now that Captain N would be coming to DVD. The artwork and release date have been officialy announced now and Captain N will be released on 27 February 2007.
TVShowsonDVD has the art for the release, and personally I think the cover looks like crap. I always assumed a cover is also a selling tool for a certain product, but the cover for this release is probably its biggest turn-off.
DOn`t know who approved this cover, but I would have immediately fired that loser.
Ayway, for the real fans of Captain N, it will be released on 27 February 2007.
Last month the 3rd Transformers Masterpiece was released (not counting the Optimus + trailer release) in the form of baddie Starscream getting the Masterpiece treatment. For a weeks now it was somewhat confirmed that the next Transformer to receive the Masterpiece treatment will be the baddest Transformer of them all, namely Megatron! And the best part of the news was that Megatron will indeed be a gun again! The first picture of what is likely a prototype seem to have been circulating on the net. And I must say that it looks very similar to original toy with both the negative and positive points.
Joe Chiodo is a cool artist, mainly known for his paintings of lovely girls in a toon style. There have been a few releases already collecting his art. Recently a new book was released called "Sketches and Paintings" and contains exactly that.
The first trailer for the upcoming Simpsons movie is online at Apple. Taking a punch at 3D animation, the trailer looks very promising and in typical Homer-style :) Just 8 more months to go till the movie premieres.....
I was really fond of the original He-man cartoon as a kid, and looking back at the episodes I still think it`s one of the better TV cartoons. In the 80s He-man was so succesfull that he eventually also got a girl-targeted couterpart in the form of She-ra. Though never as popular as He-man, and mainly aimed at girls, I`ve got to admit that I`ve watched quite some episodes of She-ra, and actually enjoyed them. She-ra was released on DVD this week, and it also arrived this week.
11 November 06 - 17:23Master Negima vol. 2 snagged up
I finally managed to get my hands on the Limited Edition version of vol. 2 of Negima. I think in a few weeks it`ll probably be sold out everywhere, so for once I may have been just on time.
One of the many lesser known toons from the 80s that was released on DVD this year, is the serie Galaxy High. The entire serie is released on DVD in 2 volumes containg all 13 episodes.
I already had volume 2, and recently also received volume 1.
Even though I stopped reading and buying comics for quite some time now, I`m sometimes drawn again to that nerdy hobby. Simply because something is released that I really can`t pass up, and most of the time it will be based on the art. In this case it`s Mark Waid`s and Alex Ross` Kingdom Come Absolute Collection.
There are quite some sketches of Satan (or Lucifer, the Devil whatever you call him) on my site, but I`m still not bored doing various (anatomical) studies to see how he should look like. So another sketch has been added.
I`m not a goth, though I really like the gothic look (and especially gothic babes :) and occasionally visit a goth party. Unfortunately I really don`t know how to dance - even though I`m colored, I still have no sense of rythym (so much for that stereotype :).
But fortunately we`re living in the Internet age, and we all know everything can be found on the Net. Even instructions on how to dance like a goth! Just follow the instructions at Gothpunk and you`ll know how to dance like a goth. So with these instructions in mind, at the next gothic party I`ll also be kicking ass on the dancefloor!
