31 December 06 - 13:41Looney Tunes Golden collection vol. 3
Even though I mentioned at the beginning of the year I would try to get the Looney Tunes Golden Collection asap in my collection, it wasn`t until last week that I finally caught up and have all the 3 volumes now with only the recently released volume 4 missing at the moment.
27 December 06 - 20:32Robin also coming to the US!
One of the best interpretations of the legend of Robin Hood has been the 80s series Robin of Sherwood. Here in Europe this excellent serie has already received a release on DVD a few years back, but now the series will also be released on region 1 DVD according to TVShowsOnDVD.
A lot of cool cartoons from the good old days have been released on DVD this year, and one of the latest to add to that list is the classic Dungeons & Dragons cartoon.
BCI Eclipse thus far has earned a good reputation for releasing older cartoon shows, and with D&D release they continue that tradtion, and with this complete box they again did something special.
Well I just upgraded to the latest Pivot version, and I should be able to post entries normally again (i.e. actually using the WYSIWYG editor again, instead of typing out all the HTML code) But there may still be some bugs, just so you know.
This week another trailer for the upcoming Transformers live action movie popped up at Yahoo. And finally we got to see actual footage of the Transformers. I`m not an old fart and I do not dislike change, but even though the trailers looks cool, I`m still not that impressed by the designs. The Transformers look like crap with too much detail making it hard to even distinguish their faces.
Today the unfortunate news is announced that legendary animator Joe Barbera has passed away at the very respectable age of 95. Read the ful report at Animated News.
Along with his companion Bill Hanna (who died in 2001) Barbera is of course known for creating classic cartoons icons as Tom & Jerry, the Flintstones, The Jetsons and more classic toons every kid has grown up with. Though Barbera has reached a very respectable age, it`s still a sad day nevertheless with the loss of one of the most important animation icons.
18 December 06 - 19:59Another Simpsons trailer pop ups
Though the movie is still quite some months away, another Simpsons Movie trailer has popped up on the net, this time at YouTube It`s an animatic of a screne with Homer and Marge. And for those who don`t know what an animatic is, just look it up at Wikipedia :)
I saw this ad from a well known coffee brand featuring a very well known male actor, and in some weird way I thought it looked a lot like Satan trying to persuade the weak to sell their souls to him. And hence this drawing was made.
12 December 06 - 21:54Another Simpsons teaser trailer
Another teaser trailer for the upcoming Simpsosn movie has pooped up on the net, this time at the Austrian Foxfilm site (because it makes really sence to place it at the Austrian site instead of foxfilm.com or something like that...)
The rumoured live action He-man movie by John Woo has been cancelled. The deal has even been put onhold indefinitely since 20th Century Fox (the attached major film studio) has returned the movie rights back to Mattel. So basically unless any other major movie studio pursues the licence for the movie, a new He-man Movie is not going to happen. But in honestly I can`t say that I`m sad about this news, they would have probably screwed the character up anyway.
It`s been officially confirmed now that Filmation`s Ghostbusters cartoon will be coming to DVD. TVShowsOnDVD has the specifics, and mentions a release date of 27 February 2007 along with the extras to be included.
Before there was Snow White, any other animated feature for that matter let alone cartoons on TV, there were the shorts. Five till eight minutes long cartoons which were shown in theatres in the old days before the movie started. It`s what made Disney and Warner Brothers great. But due to declining revenue from the shorts, eventually all the major animation studios stopped producing them.
But after 50 years Disney may actually return to producing shorts again according to an article in the New York Times. The first will be another "how to"-Goofy short. And the best news is, that the shorts may be done in traditional 2D style!
Well, it`s somewhat official now, the Megatron Masterpiece seems to be definitely coming out. And Megs will indeed be coming in his classic Gun mode. Don`t know how all the TF fans are going to get theirs if they live outside Japan, due to customs, but it`s save to say many will because Megs does look cool.
Some more pictures have surfaced on various forums, and looking at the Megatron it does have some similarities to the original toy. But overall it looks much cooler, especially now that the trigger seems to have disappeared from his crotch :)
The legs on the other hand still seem like chicken legs and not the bulky legs we see on the cartoon. But at least they look poseable. Just a few more months and it will be out!
A few weeks back I was walking in a book store and saw this weird cover which drew my attention. When I picked up the book and started flipping through it I really liked the art even though it was all about fat girls.
