There were quite some announcements this week of various toons appearing on DVD. TVShowsOnDVD for example reported the first volume of Bravestarr coming to DVD on November 20th, and included the list of extras and the cover art (see below).
The site also reports that the 2002 version of He-man will also come to DVD February 2008, and classics The Lone Ranger and Zorro will also appear on DVD in January 2008.
For those who saw Spider-man 3 and were unhappy with the story (like me for example), How It Should Have Ended has put together an alternative plot and ending for Spider-man 3. Wish I'd seen this version in the cinema instead of the actual one:) Funny stuff.
One of the coolest 80s cartoons, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, may see a proper on release on DVD reveals one of the DVD producers at Shout! Factory, the current owner of the property. In 2003 Jayce was already released on DVD. But that was a crappy release with only 4 random episodes. Let's hope Jayce & the Wheeled Warriors finally get a decent DVD release. It's expected to be released somewhere in 2008.
08 September 07 - 21:02Robotech also to the big screen?
ICV2 reports the news that Warner Bros has bought the rights to produce a live action movie of 80s classic cartoon Robotech. After seeing the Transformers I'd say bring on more bots to the big screen!
It’s no secret that I’m a big fan of animation, and especially TV cartoons from the 80s. One of the shows I liked as a kid was Bravestarr, Filmation’s last cartoon made before they closed their door permanently.
BCI Eclipse is finally going to release Bravestarr on DVD. And to start things up, they released a ‘Best of’ DVD first, just like they did with He-man and She-ra.
Next year a new Spider-man cartoon will be shown on the small screen, called Spectacular Spider-man. Marvel posted the first trailer and poster art. Looking at the animation, it looks very promissing. Also Spider-man seems to be his typical self, so I'm looking forward to this new animated series.
