Earlier this week I posted the message that the 2002 series of He-man would come to DVD. The news cam from He-man.org and TVShowsOnDVD also posted that info. TVShowsOnDVD however also mentioned that due to less than expected financial results BCI may not continue with their cartoon releases. The latter fortunately is not the case posted TVShowsonDVD yesterday! In an official statement BCI claims they will continue to bring out cartoon releases, also in 2008. No new announcements were made though, about other Filmation series but guess we'll see in the (near) future what they bring out.
He-man.org posted the news last week that the 2002 version of He-man will probably be released on the 19th of October 2008. In a similar post TVShowsOnDVD mentions that BCI isn`t doing so well in terms of sales, so this He-man set may be the last cartoon serie produced by them :(
I don`t know a person who doesn`t like the Looney Tunes, and the Golden Collection has been a hit thus far, especially with animation fanatics (that includes me)
So normally a release for these icons of animation I look forward to. TVShowOnDVD posts the news that WB will be releasing a sort 'Best of' DVD containing 15 Oscar winners from their Looney Tunes/MGM library. Normally this would sound cool - if it hadn`t been released before.
In the Netherlands Tom & Jerry already had a (almost) complete set, so including the Oscar winners. Droopy recently had a complete theaterical release, so the winners are also included in that and the Looney Tunes are of course more than featured in the Golden Collections (volume 5 released this month)
So although I like the Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry etc. I don`t see any reason to buy these new sets. Unless they include come cool extras of gifts with these sets, I'll probably skip it.
Normally I'm not a particular fan of CG toons. But when I saw the DVD cover art for the straight-to-DVD release of a new Garfield toon, I must admit I did put it on my wish list.
Today 'Garfield gets real' will be released, and this Garfield actually looks like Garfield but then just in 3D form, and it looks quite nice I must say. I don`t know if the movie itself is any good, but based on the visual it favor it more than the boo-ed live action flick.
Even in sunny Mumbai I follow the news in DVD and animation world, though with a little delay. One of the cooler DVD news was the announcement of the Family Guy Blue Harvest, a new parody on Star Wars A new Hope - in Family Guy style.
The release itself is not that special, but the special edition of this release is special (pun intended ;)
Included with the special edition are some goodies, and since I'm a fan of these kinds of silly stuff, I thought it was a cool thing. January 2008 is the release for this DVD, but it`s already up for pre-ordering.
I am currently not in the Rotterdam office, I will return the 10th of December. I will have no / little access to my email.
Sorry for any inconvenience
Kind regards,
Danny"
This is the message clients get when they mail me at work. The same thing kinda applies to my blog, namely that I won`t have that much time to update it the next couple of weeks. But hopefully after that I will have plenty of content to upload.
