It seems I can post new entries in a normal way again. Also my other problems seem to have also been resolved. So I can post new entries again - woohoo! Now to find some interesting things to actually put online :-)

Even though I've reached an age where I'm supposed to act mature, I still like toys and especially Transformers toys (from the original serie that is). The Masterpiece line is without a doubt one of the best lines made, and earlier this week there were some rumours on the net that the next Transformer in line to receive the Masterpiece treatment could be Grimlock! If that's true, then we've got another amazing Transformer year ahead of us!

Ok, my database is officially broken and I cannot fix it. Apparently there is a work around to post messages, but I don`t know if the rest of my weblog is also working correct. I hope to have it fixed in the near future, but sadly i don`t even know where to start :(

13 January 08 - 22:28Newtype USA no more?

Anime News Network posted the news last week that ADV would stop publishing Newtype USA coming February or March. Apparently it will be replaced by a new magazine called PiQ which will not solely focus on anime but also on 'other pop culture' things.

No reason has been given thus far why Newtype USA will cease to exist, but I'm quite sure it has something to do with money (i.e. Newtype USA not making enough of it for ADV). Though I don't read Newtype regularly, I still think it's sad to see it go. Though it rarely featured any in depth articles or interviews, I did like it for the many pictures and added extras like the posters and DVD sampler. But I'm curious to see if PiQ can fill up the gap that Newtype USA will leave. The original (Japanese) Newtype will continue BTW. But too bad I can't read Japanese.

While fanboys are going crazy over the trailers for the upcoming Batman The Dark Knight movie by Chris Nolan as a sequel to Batman Begins, another Batman project is also in the works with at least as much appeal, namely a new animated movie directed by Bruce Timm. And yes, that is the same Bruce Timm who brought us the classic Batman Animated series in the 90s.

The movie won't focus on TAS but instead it will fill the gap between Nolan's Batman Begins movie and the upcoming Dark Knight movie according to Joblo. Also it will consist of 6 mini segments, each animated by a popular anime studio. Thus far it sounds very promissing and I'm looking forward to this release, even more than the DK movie.

07 January 08 - 21:00Duckman on DVD

One of the more odd cartoon series has to be Duckman. A duck as a PI with his evenly odd family is a serie you have to see at least once, because it's a little out of the ordinary at least. Now you may actualy get the chance because TVShowsOnDVD reports that plans are in the works to bring this serie on DVD. No date or specifics have been revealed yet. But it is in the works, and once more news is known I'm sure someone will make it public.

I'm a sucker for redheads and devil girls, so when you combine the two you get the following illustration :-)

And no, the jpg is not of bad quality. For this pic I used the Halftone filter in Photoshop to make it look like an old fashioned comic book page or magazine ad.
