Beetlejuice (the movie) will be rereleased on DVD later this year and one of the bonus features is 3 episodes from the cartoon series.
The entire Sunbow library of Hasbro cartoons (e.g. the original Transformers, G.I. Joe, Jem & The Holograms etc.) has been purchased back by Hasbro. Thus Hasbro has all the rights to release these toons on DVD. There are however no actual plans to do so in the near future.
Starwars.com has posted a trailer for the upcoming CGI Clone Wars feature which should hit the theaters in the US on the 15th of August. Looking at the trailer and the animation I can only conclude that it looks like crap. I think one of the first CG animated toon series for TV, Reboot, from 10 years ago looks better than this crap. It's unimaginable that the same people who are so keen on technical advancement in movie making can make such a horrible and technically outdated animated flick. Perhaps I'm a little judgemental, and hopefully it will be much better when it's actually released in the theaters.
Long have I and many others waited for the classic Marvel cartoon series like Spider-man and his Amazing Friends, the 90s X-men toon serie, The Incredible Hulk from the 80s and more to appear on DVD. Now it looks like it may actually happen, at least for the UK and a couple of Eurpean countries. Liberation Entertainment (I had never heard of them up till now) has made an exclusive deal with Marvel to release these classic toon on DVD as complete box sets - this year!!
The first titles available for pre-order is the first season of the X-men (90s series), and more interestingly Spider-man and his amazing friends is also on the list for an August release. it looks like another year where my credit card will be seriously abused ;)
The next Transformer to get the Masterpiece treatment is the mighty Dinobot Grimlock. No release has been mentioned yet. This has to be without a doubt one of the more anticipated Transformers releases for this year, and it's already on my wish list and must haves for this year.
I haven’t updated my site or my blog in quite a whilel. I blame my crappy job (why can’t I just win the lottery and quite my stinking job) and the nice weather of the last few days for not updating my blog.
But a lot has happened in the field of animation. A few messages that caught my attention are the following.
First up is the news that Steven Spielberg will direct the first chapter of the long awaited Tintin movie.
The Family Guy spin off featuring Peter Griffin’s friend Cleveland is a fact and will be called The Cleveland Show. Fox will also produce a another new animated serie called Sit Down, Shut up about a some high school teachers in a small town. No art work is available for the new serie.
