I’m a fan of HIM. And no, I’m not gay I still like girls and I’m also not a 14 year old girl. But somehow I just like HIM’s music. So seeing and hearing them live is always good and I was quite pleased when they released a live DVD.

A few weeks back I got a couple of live DVDs. In the next few days I’ll discuss a few of them. Zakk Wylde is one of my favourite guitarists and IMO a true icon amongst guitarists. Megafast solo’s and squalies are his trademark and what sets him apart from other guitarists. But Zakk Wylde also always puts on a good show when he’s playing. Starting as Ozzy Osbourne’s lead guitarists, for a few years Zakk also has his own band, currently Black Label Society.

When I was in high school one of the biggest bands in the world was Guns 'n Roses and I was a big fan of their music. I'm still a big fan of the songs, but we all know what happened to that once legendary band. The entire band broke up and the only original member left is Axl Rose himself. Even though the entire world has accepted that GnR is dead, Axl's been working on a new album called Chinese Democrazy for the last 15 years or so. Now and then we see an announcement of it being released, but each time it eventually is postponed again.

On the site of one of my favourite e-tailers Play.com I saw they have a pre-order for that new album, including a possible cover art. The release date says 1st of September but how likely is that going to happen? Personally I think even if it was actually released it would probably suck anyway, because it simply cannot be better than Appetite for Destruction or the Use your Illusion albums. But it will also suck because high expectations are rarely met (anyone remember the Load albums from Metallica or the new Star Wars movies...)

Still, I'm more than curious to see how it will sound like. Guess we'll just have to wait for two months to find out. IF it gets releassed :)

The Flintstones may not be one of my favourite cartoons. But still, one cannot deny the significance of the Flintstones in animation history. All seasons have already been released on DVD but Warner Bros will now also be releasing a complete boxset on October 28th reports TVShowsOnDVD. Looking at the promo pic, I must say the set looks very tempting to get.

No official word on a possible Grimlock Masterpiece. But the next official Masterpiece that has been confirmed is Thundercracker, aka a repaint of the Starscream MP. Not very exciting news, but for the completists perhaps a nice release.

Sometimes a comic book is released that should be in everyone’s collection, even those that do not read comic books (anymore). The Amazing Spider-man Omnibus is such a release that any person with a slight sympathy towards the wall crawler should have.
