18 May 09 - 20:03Therapy? in Utrecht

Last week Therapy? played in Utrecht and it (again) was a very cool gig. The first half of the show started with quite some numbers from their new album, Crooked Timber mixed with some old stuff. The second half of the show they played all their hits and the classics, including Diane, Screamager, Isolation and ended the night with Nowhere.

When I first heard the single Crooked Timber I commented that I didn't like it as much as other Therapy? songs. And after hearing some of the other songs from the new album Timber, I can say that Crooked Timber isn't the best song on the album and there fortunately are many other songs on the album that do rock!

Crooked Timber isn't as good as the classics Troublegum or Infernal Love, but's still a solid album nevertheless.

Therapy? love what they're doing and it also shows on stage. They clearly have fun performing, and don't do it just for the sake of doing it. They're also vey professional and try to keep some interaction with the audience.

In one of the songs one of Neil's drumsticks goes flying in the sky. But Neil acts real cool and just picks up another drum stick stacked to his drumkit and continues drumming without missing a beat.

Later in the evening a few people climbed on stage and started stage diving. One guy was so enthusiastic (or retarted depending how you look at it) he accidentally got stuk in Michael's bass - really. Michael turned off the sound of his bass, while the crew guys tried to unstrangle the idiot fan who got stuck.

After Micheal had tuned his bass he just kept on playing with a smile and laughing at the crowd about what happened.

The crowd was also in a good mood, even singing along with some of the songs in the end, which sometimes was needed seeing that one of the mikes broke down during Diana ;)

An excellent gig, by one of the best bands alive. Can't wait till the next time.

Therapy? has a new album out, Crooked Timber. And with a new alnum also comes a new tour. Last Tuesday they were in Utrecht, and Therapy? showed they still rock!

At the end of the gig I got thic nice little gift for myself, a signed album version of Therapy?'s new album signed by all three members.
