31 October 09 - 21:55Time for something new
My PC is almost 5 years old, and my iMac is 3 years old which means both systems are horribly slow these days.
I don't understand the hype surrounding Mac computers. I've used a Windows based PC as well as an iMac, and the iMac pretty much sucks at least as much as a Windows based PC if not more. The Mac first of all is seriously overpriced. For the same price you get much better specs on a regular PC. But more importantly a Mac in no way performs better than a Windows based PC. So, you actually pay much more money for an inferior product.
My iMac crashed just as often as a Windows PC. On IE everything works, for Safari very few things work. Windows has loads of short cuts and information tabs, the Mac doesn't and if it does it takes more clicks than on Windows. Just look at the right mouse click functionality. For every application there's a Windows versions, but it's always a question whether or not it exists for the Mac and the same for periphals like printers or scanners.
The only cool thing about the iMac is its look and the Mightly Mouse. But in terms of durability the Mighty Mouse is pretty much crap. After a few months the scroll ball gets clogged and becomes useless because it doesn't work anymore. And the only option is to break open the mouse and clean it. But opening it usually means damaging the mouse.
After 5 years my Windows PC is horribly slow. After only 3 years my iMac is just as slow. On both systems I practically can't work anymore.
So, it was time to get a new PC. But with Vista sucking big time I had to wait for Windows 7 to be released, and last week Windows 7 was finally released and I could start looking for a replacement for my PC/iMac. And find I did...
