Justice League: The New Low
The Justice League series is one of the best cartoon series ever made I believe, and not suprisingly I’m a fan of the series. I’m also very happy happy with the DVD releases of the series. And when the news was announced that a direct-to-dvd feature was in the makes – similar to the Batman TAS movies – I was more than excited, especially since the same team involved with the regular series would be involved.
I already knew the style would be different than that from the regular serie and the source material would be the graphic novel A New Frontier. But as long as the same creative team as for the series was involved nothing could go wrong, right?
Well, I was wrong. The story is boring as hell, and after watching for 30 minutes I seriously doubted whether or not to turn if off. But –sadly- I deceided to watch it till the (bitter) end, and I still regret that decision. This story is without a doubt to most boring, non-inspirational piece of crap written for any of the DC toons.
The animation is also horrible, and makes an episode of He-man (the original series) look like a Disney animated feature. With the current technology for animation, and the creative team from JL it’s hard to believe such prehistoric piece of crap can be made. Every episode form the regular series is som much better than the animation is this horrible garbage.
I wasn’t too crazy about the design when I saw the promo art, and after seeing the movie my opinion about that has not changed a bit (quite the opposite in fact)
There’s absolutely nothing positive to say about this release, and I actually regret having this release in my collection and spending money for such a horrible product.
For anyone doubting whether or not to get this release, DON’T GET IT! Without a doubt the worst release from the entire DC universe cartoons.
The packaging of the DVD itself is ok. The 2-disc DVD set comes in a keepcase enclosed in a foil based slipcover.
