Stupid villains
Sometimes I'm seriously surprised just how retarded some villains are. In kiddy cartoons I can somewhat imagine the villain is portrayed as an idiot to keep it comical. But in movies intended for mature viewer I sometimes see the same dumb villain in which it's no surprise the hero manages to defeat the villain. Not necessarily because the hero is brave or anything like that but simply because the villain is an idiot.
Terminator Salvation was released on DVD last week and when I saw it again I immediately thought about idiotic villains. I mean, the whole purpose of the first Terminator movie was to kill Sarah Connor so that she couldn't give birth to John Connor, the leader of mankind in the future against the machines.
The only reason why Sarah Connor gets knocked up with John Connor is because she fucked Kyle Reese, John Connor's dad. So, if Kyle Reese were to die in the future before he travels back to the past, wouldn't that prevent John Connor from being born?
I would think so. So, why do the machines when they capture Kyle Reese in the future don't immediately kill that little son of a bitch? No Kyle Reese, no John Connor I'd say.
But no, the machines decide to let Kyle live and use him as bait to get John Connor. How often has the villain lost because they didn't kill their opponent when they had the chance?
Anyway, this was the machine's first mistake.
At the end of the movie when John Connor has infiltrated Skynet and the trap set by Skynet seems to work, the idiotic villain syndrome kicks in again and seals the machine's fate.
The terminator (amazing digital mock up of Arnie BTW) has John Connor in its clutches. And what does the dumb fuck do? It throws John Connor around as if it's a WWF wrestling match.
What the fuck? Here you have an all powerful robot who can literally tear humans apart with its arms, standing off against its arch nemesis and instead of immediately ripping John Connors head off, it throws him around giving him time to recuperate, find some arms etc.
How stupid can you be? In my opinion for this stupidity the machines deserve to lose. Who said machines are smarter than humans?
